Cultural and Performance Space

Eastlakes, NSW

Researching and understanding the history of Australia, specifically on Indigenous. Then leaded to a site analysis and designation in a suburb named as Eastlakes. Looking at certain aspects of macro history of Australia, broadened up to Indigenous population, with the division relationships between the site and specific aspects. Particular site building construction analysis and details of Eastlakes, as mostly red-brick house, then created a development proposal of the building. Lastly, defining the final design through an example or subsequent act through a precedent analysis; the Solo House by KGDVS.

RESEARCH & ANALYSIS

Researching up macro aspects of population in the world, specifically in Australia towards the Indigenous population in specific years. also looking at the location percentage of where they most likely live across the country. In these, leading up to the occupation and understanding the linguistic group then broadened into to the Botany Bay information, researching on the majority and minority nationalities in Eastlakes, the public transports timing towards the site or vice versa and lastly analyzing the house pricing in Sydney.

SOLO HOUSE

Solo House is built in a circular roof and base with a diameter of 40 meters which cut off the middle chords of the circular shape, designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David van Severen (KGDVS). Inside the house, there are eight columns in four straight rows which hold the roof up. In the component of skin, Solo House is designed with metal mesh skins as large curtain stretches slide with poles behind, allowing a full opened space to provide views with glass materials that cause transparency between the interior and exterior. Furthermore, movements inside the house provide freedom from outdoor to internal building

SKIN

Metal mesh skins locate in the three different places except the entrance row. The mesh functions as large curtains which can be slides with the structure behind the poles. The mesh skins are interlaces with holes that are able to seen through.

STUCTURE

Two different structures are made provides in Solo House. One of it is the column, which functions to hold the roof up. There are eight columns in four straight rows within each side inside the house. As metal mesh skins can be slides, poles stick in the roof are made to be moved as well. The poles only locate three side of the columns, but not the entrance.

CIRCULATION

Circulation inside the house is as simple as the building, without any obstructions at all. As the middle house's chord is cut off, the reason is to create a sense of nature interaction between outside and inside. The movement starts from the entrance, circling around the base ground or even goes straight to the center of the Solo House.

CULTURAL AND PERFORMANCE CENTRE

The mutant is sited in a car park within 84m long and 17m wide between Longworth Avenue, Evans Avanue and Barber Avenue. It sits directly on top of the space between two six pack houses, with four columns partitioned on the ground as the supports of the building. The contextual research as the critique are the connections between the value pricing and privacy: with the position of the higher building is, the higher of the privacy will be, as well as the price. In the response of the site research and precedent building of Solo House, the main aspect of the design is to improve Eastlakes economy through an addition of Cultural and Performance Space.

The shape of the mutant restricts the humans' movements, conventionally circulation, in which the way out is the entrances itself. Accession of three levels are divided, each conveys different aspects of privacy; low, medium and high. intentionally volumes of people are specified with state different prices accession. As in positioned of privacy contention, the mutant is sited in the space as it has been hardly interlaced for its purpose from accessible connection road between Evans Avenue and Barber Avenue.

The final mutant concludes movement as what Solo House has, one circulation. With four columns as the supports of the mutant, partially of the walls are designed with transparent glass to create interaction between outside and inside. As such, it does not touch the ground as in the purpose to keep the parking space as it is, in order to allow residents or visitors park their vehicles. The circulation starts from the ground floor and keeps going until the end of it. First level is the Cultural Centre where it is in low privacy as most of the walls are designed with transparent glass. Second Level is where the Performance Space locates as well as the "laundry". The third level is where the holds the least volume with most expensive cost of entrance fees.

With the entire education and life experience, I dedicate with range of fascinating and creative ideas in designing. Discovering and holding high passions of graphical and conceptual strategies, as well as bringing together all efforts of brainstorming and researching found into amazing and high quality outcomes.
